To be a winner in this first CEEES photographic competition, it doesn't matter what branch of Environmental Engineering you work in. What's needed is the ability to produce an image that stops people in their tracks and makes them look again at Environmental Engineering.
A winning image may show something never seen before, open our eyes to new areas of engineering or show things in creative and unusual ways.
Whilst the judges will look for the very best in photography, they will also keep in mind the aim of the competition, which is to share the excitement of Environmental Engineering with a wider audience.
Images may capture an Environmental Engineering process or event as it happens. They can be taken using scientific equipment or standard or specialist photographic techniques eg. high speed/stroboscopic/time lapse photography.
Entries may be used to reveal the world in a way that cannot be seen with the naked eye. Images can be taken using a macro lens or techniques such as microscopy, x-ray, satellite or astronomical photography, thermography, magnetic resonance imaging etc.
Other images may communicate the impact of environmental engineering on people's lives.
Entries could also illustrate the impact on our lives of environmental engineering in medicine and healthcare. They might show the disease or illness, diagnostic techniques, treatment used or the care given.
Images can be taken by any standard or specialist photographic technique, or can be computer generated but must be submitted digitally and have been taken in the last 5 years.
The winning images will be published in the SEE Environmental Engineering Journal and Newsletter and on the SEE website. The images will also be offered for similar publication to all of the Environmental Engineering Societies that are CEEES members.
